To celebrate the 75th anniversary of this remarkable institution, Steiff – the inventors of the teddy bear – pay tribute to the hard-working professionals who take care of us in our time of greatest need.
He’s hand-made from the finest light blond mohair – one of the most luxurious and sustainable natural fibres in the world – with a charming contrasting muzzle. His face is full of character – just look at the kind-hearted twinkle in those boot-button eyes – and his nose and mouth have been delicately stitched by hand. He’s even been designed with flat soles to his feet so that he can stand easily.
His uniform of blue nursing scrubs, first introduced during the 1990s, has been carefully embroidered with the words “NHS 75 Years of Care” in bright red thread. The pocket watch pinned to his tunic is, of course, upside down, to allow for easy “paw-free” reading when required. Notice how the hands point to the numbers 7 and 5 in honour of the 75th anniversary. As a final finishing touch, a medical ID card bearing his name is attached to his pocket.
