The Special Air Service are the British Army’s most elite special forces unit, with potential candidates undergoing one of the most notoriously tough selection processes. The bravery and nerve of the SAS are summed up by their famous motto, “Who Dares Wins”, as they undertake important, covert missions with advanced expertise, strength and ability. However, their roots were laid over 80 years ago in North Africa, when Colonel David Stirling first envisioned the creation of a desert raiding force.

As a tribute to the soldiers who established the infamous Special Air Service during the Second World War, Danbury Mint is proud to present…The SAS Coin Sculpture.

  • Using expert guidance from our military historian, our craftsmen have successfully captured every detail. From the desert-ready headdress, ankle socks and utility boots, to the devastating STEN gun in his hand, every detail is there for you to appreciate.
  • A set of genuine 1941 coins – the year the SAS were founded. This includes a Farthing, Halfpenny, Threepence, Sixpence and Shilling – all in gently circulated condition.
  • A specially-crafted hexagonal wooden base.
  • An exclusive commemorative medal. In raised relief, the front features SAS soldiers driving into battle and on the reverse bears the iconic words of General Bernard Montgomery about the determination and character of Colonel Stirling.

Actual size of sculpture is 12” tall.
