2023 was a momentous year for King Charles III, who was crowned at Westminster Abbey on 6th May, while also celebrating his 75th birthday on 14th November. To mark these important events, the Royal Mint has released two special Crowns that have proved so popular that they are already in high demand. In fact, the Coronation Crown is now sold out at the Royal Mint. However, Danbury Mint has managed to secure just 100 complete sets.
The Coronation Crown design, by experienced coin artist Timothy Nod, marks the date of His Majesty’s coronation and depicts the Coronation Regalia used during the ceremony at Westminster Abbey. The coin features the first crowned portrait of His Majesty, which sees the King wearing the Tudor Crown in this special, one-off design. The edge inscription reads, ‘GOD SAVE OUR GRACIOUS KING’.
The intricate King Charles III 75th Birthday Crown design was created by Royal Mint designer Dan Thorne and features His Majesty’s royal cypher, framed within oak leaves and delphiniums, alongside the number ‘75’ to mark his milestone birthday. The obverse features Charles’ official coinage portrait, with an inscription around the edge, reading ‘RESTORING HARMONY WITH NATURE’.
Both coins are minted in .925 silver and struck in stunning proof quality. The pinnacle of the minter’s art, proof quality coins are minted in extremely limited quantities, never enter circulation and are rarely seen by the public. They are carefully struck at least twice on highly polished dies and blanks, resulting in flawless coins with razor-sharp detail.
With your momentous coin set, you will receive – at no additional charge – a wooden display case, custom-crafted to protect and showcase these exceptional royal issues. The case features a lock and key for additional security. A Certificate of Authenticity will also be included.
Display is 8”x 5¾” x 1½”.
