The FIRST coin series honouring American women, The Complete Collection of U.S. Women’s Quarters forms a collectible of beauty, meaning and importance. Issued at the rate of five per year, the coins will feature 20 women representing a wide range of accomplishments.
The collection honours women such as:
- Writer and civil rights icon Maya Angelou.
- Astronaut Dr. Sally Ride.
- Native American chief Wilma Mankiller.
- Suffragist and educator Nina Otero-Warren.
- Movie star Anna May Wong.
The front portrait was created by one of America’s most notable female sculptors, Laura Gardin Fraser, for the design competition for the original Washington quarter in 1932.
A Collector Card accompanies each women's quarters shipment, providing fascinating narrative about the celebrated and highly accomplished woman featured on the coin. The luxurious wooden Display Chest (measuring 9¾" x 4¾" x 8⅜") will be sent with the third shipment.
Each shipment will contain three examples of one quarter, struck at the three different issuing mints (20 total shipments in this collection). Shipments will be made about every other month until caught up to the U.S. Mint release schedule.
