Damsels in distress. Doomed and forbidden love. Epic battles and quests in pursuit of strange creatures. This is the world of Arthurian legend and, at the centre of it all, there is the ‘Once and Future King’ – Arthur himself, who, according to the stories, pulled a sword from a stone to become the greatest king that Britain has ever known. Now, the Royal Mint is celebrating the classic saga with a set of brand new fine silver bullion coins. Presenting… The Legend of King Arthur .999 Silver Bullion Collection.
Each of the .999 silver bullion coins bears a legend from the stories of Arthur Pendragon. The first released coin features the King himself. Experienced illustrator David Lawrence's depiction of the formidable warrior features him atop a horse, firmly grasping his legendary sword Excalibur. The obverse features the last portrait of Queen Elizabeth II, sculpted by Royal Mint engraver Jody Clark.
The second coin released features Arthur’s mentor, the mystical Merlin. The mage is depicted clutching a magical stave, with an owl perched on his shoulder. The obverse features the first portrait of King Charles III.
The third unreleased coin will be the famous fairy enchantress, Morgan Le Fey.
Each coin in the collection has been struck to the Royal Mint’s silver bullion standard. Each contains 1oz of .999 silver and is in sparkling brilliant uncirculated condition. To perverse their condition, each coin has been sonically sealed in a protective crystal-clear holder using Danbury Mint’s “Sealed for Good” technology.
Display measures 11½" x 6½" x 3”.
