These two beautiful silver groats are important historic relics. They date from the reigns of Henry VI and Edward IV, well over 500 years ago. Henry VI was the last of the Lancastrian kings; his reign was dominated by the Wars of the Roses. He was famously defeated at the Battle of Tewkesbury in May 1471 and replaced by Edward IV, the first king of the House of York. Just imagine – these coins may have been held by those who witnessed the two kings clashing at Tewkesbury, or even by the soldiers who fought for them!
Both hammered silver coins bear Latin inscriptions and likenesses of the monarchs. They will arrive with a detailed fact booklet, providing a fascinating insight into the lives of these two medieval kings. To complete your purchase, you will also receive a handsome wooden chest in which you can proudly display your coins.
Display is 5” x 3¾” x 1?”.
