In World War II, the U.S. joined her allies in the global fight for freedom and democracy. In America, nickel became a crucial metal in the production of tanks, aircraft, guns and other items essential to Allied success…so the U.S. Mint joined the war effort by removing nickel from the five-cent coin. Instead, it struck nickels in 35% silver from 1942 to 1945! These are America’s only silver nickels — and now, every year and mint mark is available in uncirculated condition.
This stunning collection of 11 historic silver coins, each issued at least 70 years ago:
- Is guaranteed to contain 35% pure silver, making every one of these coins – the only U.S. nickels without a trace of nickel—worth many times its face value.
- Represents the first coins in U.S. history to feature the “P” mint mark of the Philadelphia Mint, which appears above the dome of Monticello on the back.
- Is presented in original uncirculated condition, with each coin in a clear case to preserve its pristine state and protect it from dust, dirt and fingerprints.
