On Christmas Eve 1938, a little panda cub named Ming swapped the wild, bamboo-clad mountains of China’s Sichuan Province for a cold, snowy London Zoo. She was the first giant panda cub ever to set paw on British soil and she soon became a star nationwide.
In 1939, Merrythought were asked to create a realistic looking panda which could be used as a stand-in for Ming during filming. Now, especially for Danbury Mint, Merrythought have created a reproduction of that very special panda – on a slightly smaller scale than the original ? but with all the detail and charm of her famous ancestor.
Handmade from black and white mohair with a fabulous faux leather collar.
From a limited-edition of 1,939 pieces.
7½ " (19cm) tall x 13" (33cm) long.
Orders for non-personalised products which are in stock should be delivered within about a week. Personalised products may take longer.
