The Great Recoinage of 1816 saw the reintroduction of the sovereign as the nation’s gold currency and George III was the first monarch to appear on it from 1817 to 1820. The coin is also notable as the first to feature Benedetto Pistrucci’s now-famous depiction of St. George slaying the Dragon.
Struck in 22 carat gold, these highly sought-after coins are encapsulated for protection and mounted on a richly-finished wooden panel within the handsome display chest provided at no extra charge. The date you receive will depend on our limited available supply.
Display case is 5” x 3¾” x 1?”.
