Steiff Peter’s Zotty Bear

‘Zotty’ bears remain a classic favourite since their introduction by Steiff in 1951, and none more so than Margarete Steiff’s great-great-great nephew Peter Hotz and his furry companion, who posed together at the tender age of three in Steiff’s catalogue.Zotty comes from the German word for ‘zottel’, which means shaggy, and that’s descriptive of his gorgeous caramel-tipped mohair fur. He’s five-way jointed, growls and comes complete with a copy of the old photo depicting Peter and his bear.He’s rare too; Peter’s Zotty is available in a limited edition of 969, a number chosen to mark the year of his birth: 1969.
