The love story between Queen Victoria and Albert has been well documented throughout history. The couple married in 1840 and went on to have nine children. When Albert died in 1861, the Queen was inconsolable – she withdrew from public life, wore only black and slept next to a photo of her beloved Albert until her own death in 1901.Steiff have now made a beautiful collector bear to celebrate the life of Albert, The Royal Consort. He’s hand-made from the finest brown mohair with black boot-button eyes and a black hand-stitched nose. Around his neck, suspended from a golden satin ribbon is a gold-plated medallion honouring one of Prince Albert’s most significant achievements – The Great Exhibition. It is embossed with an image of the dashing prince in profile. This very special bear is being issued in a strict limited edition of just 1,819 pieces worldwide.
